Mission, Vision & Values
We believe that adults often underestimate children and the power of agency.
With a priority on time in nature and attention to social-emotional wellbeing, our mission is to offer our gulf coast families a high-fidelity Montessori education where children grow into creative, self-directed, and curious humans.
Toddler Studio
From the moment a new baby opens her eyes, the journey of absorbing and learning begins! The first 1,000 days of life and the development that takes place in that window sets the stage for how the brain will work for the rest of the person’s life. Dr. Claire McCarthy, senior faculty at Harvard explains it like this, “How the brain begins is how it stays.” So we take this early window very seriously. As soon as your baby is able to walk, which is often around the age of one, he or she is a “toddler.” So, we begin at one. They are ready for stand-up-diaper changes, ready to choose their activities from our shelves, and most of all, ready for freedom of movement to explore intentionally designed as well as wild spaces. Our Montessori toddler space, which we call a studio, feels like home, offers almost unrestricted movement and freedom (we call this freedom within limits) and facilitates the daily experiences that lead to basic language skills, problem solving, visual discrmination, physical coordination and concentration.
Primary Studio
The most intense period of neuronal development occurs in early childhood. During this time, the brain undergoes rapid growth and development, forming and refining neural connections at an extraordinary rate, and this peaks around the age of three. No longer toddlers, Primary children are consciously absorbing, interacting, manipulating, connecting, experimenting and socializing in a new way. The environment for this new phase, which we prefer to call a studio instead of a classroom, is intentionally designed for children as young as two-and-a-half and through Kindergarten, to maximize this incredible phase of development. Down to the specific shades of colored pencils to the one centimeter progression of a tower of pink blocks there is a science, genius, and purpose behind everything. Children are self-directed artists, scientists, story-tellers, engineers, mathematicians and writers using materials that span the simplest of pre-school activities all the way through activities that cover standards usually associated with second and third grades. With a sense of agency, our Primary friends grow themselves into expressive, courageous, just, intentional, kind and curious people.

From Concrete to Abstract – Worth The Wait
Unlike traditional educational approaches, the Montessori method before 1st grade does not set abstract learning goals. This is because a young child's brain is not yet wired for abstract thinking. Instead, our approach is centered on physical engagement...
